Webber Hwy 6 Project

Webber’s work schedule was unpredictable. Some weeks saw full activity, while others had just 2-3 days of operation, or none at all. While delays are common in construction, this level of inconsistency was unusual for a project of this scale.

Webber contacted Twisted Nail during the Hwy 6 rebuild after becoming unhappy with another material and trucking supply company. We initially sourced 50,000 tons from Knife River but due to inconsistent orders, Knife River could not provide more material having committed elsewhere. We then pivoted to Frost Crushed Stone, but Frost wanted to prioritize more consistent customers so again, we needed to adapt. The final pit used was CTSA which is an hour away and increased trucking needs, but by November 2023, we were running 40 belly dumps for this project & had solved the material sourcing problems at hand.

Each quarry transition required a price increase, and although this naturally comes with client hesitancy, our transparency created the trust that was critical in keeping the project on track. Sourcing material from quarries that were often low on supply posed a significant challenge, but we successfully navigated the market. 

Webber, a price-conscious company, ultimately appreciated the convenience we provided. Despite the challenges, we facilitated smooth transitions through three quarry changes without needing new accounts or paperwork, ensuring the project’s success despite multiple obstacles.
