BASF Lake Creek Project

BASF contacted Twisted Nail for the Lake Creek project in Riesel, TX, during the lake reconstruction effort. The engineer initially requested a crushed river rock that was unavailable in Texas or even the broader market. After weeks of searching and providing multiple alternatives, the engineer—based in Canada—finally accepted a 2” crushed limestone with a very specific gradation. Based on our strong relationship with Killeen Crushed Stone we were brought on as the trucking provider to run the logistics and ultimately deliver the solution. This project highlights the flexibility and persistence of our operations.

The BASF project’s delivery schedule was highly inconsistent. Orders often came in for 1,000 tons at a time, typically 1-2 days a week, which required careful planning and adaptability. While variability in construction schedules is common, the irregularity of this project presented unique logistical challenges.

BASF contacted Twisted Nail to assist with the Lake Creek reconstruction after facing difficulties sourcing the required materials. The project engineer, adamant about using crushed river rock, encountered the same market limitations we had identified—this material was unavailable in Texas or elsewhere. After weeks of effort, the engineer agreed to use a 2” crushed limestone with a specific gradation, but even this material was unavailable from any local quarry. Twisted Nail leveraged our strong industry relationships to secure the trucking operations, ensuring the material reached its destination.

This project demonstrates Twisted Nail’s ability to navigate market challenges while maintaining customer trust. By prioritizing clear communication and flexibility, we provided BASF with reliable logistics even when material sourcing proved difficult. Despite the hurdles, our dedication ensured the project’s success and highlighted the strength of our trucking services.
